Abandonment Issues

Once again I was at a fast food restaurant. I noticed that one of the tables seemed abandoned, the trays were still there with food wrappers and even bits of food left. I sat at a near by table and ate my meal. Who were these people? Why didn't they take their trash to the trash can? They could have not left without passing at least one trash receptacle.
